Two more of the photos out the window, which show the formal gardens and more of the varied structures of the acres-large Winchester mansion. Our third date was a mile hike to the top of Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge just west of Portland. We started the cool, misty hike around 6:30 a.m. and saw no other hikers until we were back down on Benson Bridge at the top of the lower falls. We loved the views, like the one from the top of the falls...and watching the chipmunks along the trail bend over the grass stalks to eat the seeds on top for breakfast. All at once we noticed that we had other wildlife on the trail - slime-covered slugs! Louis lay down on the trail to capture one on this camera
